Frieda Sanidas Leason served as Honorary Consul of France in Denver during the landmark years 1987 to 2006. She was actively involved in important diplomatic events, such as the Papal visit to Denver, celebrating World Youth Day in 1993 and the G7 meeting of 1997. She initiated the establishment of the Rocky Mountain French-American Chamber of Commerce and, at the same time, furthered her artistic career as producer/director and actor with l’Alliance & CO, the theatre arm of the Alliance Française de Denver. She remains active in the French community, the Institute of International Education, the Metropolitan Opera National Council and its Regional Auditions program. In recognition of her services to the French Republic, Frieda Sanidas Leason was decorated in September of 2006 by then-Ambassador of France to the United States, Jean-David Levitte who made her Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest honor.
